The Iron, Cobalt, and Spot Etching Stuff is a non-acidic product for removing iron, cobalt, and spot-etching stains from all types of pool surfaces without draining the pool. It will normally remove these stains easily and effectively within 48 hours, with minimal rebalancing of other pool chemical products.

  1. Is it safe to swim after adding the Iron, Cobalt, and Spot Etching Stuff?
    No; do not swim until the stains have been removed and your water chemistry is back to the appropriate levels.
  2. How much do I need?
    2  lbs. per 12,000 gallons
  3. Why did my stains turn black after adding this product?
    The stains you are trying to treat are copper, instead of iron. Use Copper and Scale Stuff to remove these stains.
  4. How long will the treatment take?
    As long as your water chemistry is adjusted properly, the treatment should be fully reacted within 48 hours.
  5. What happens during the treatment if my dog gets into the pool?
    When doing this treatment, there are no adverse conditions that would harm a pet. The reason we don't advise swimming during this treatment is because the chlorine level is lower than recommended levels for swimming.
  6. When doing this treatment, is it a good idea to wait for the chlorine to come down on its own?
    No. This is a common mistake made especially in the warmer months. By not using After Shock Chlorine Remover, you will create a significant chlorine demand which may create an algae problem. By using After Shock, you can immediately lower the chlorine level and start the treatment the same day.

  • Chemicals, pool paint, and some oversized items, will only ship via ground service.
  • Items shipped via Freight Service, such as pool heaters, will only ship via ground service.
  • All orders shipping to Maryland will incur a 6% sales tax charge.
  • Some items, including hazmat, may require a Direct Signature upon delivery.
  • Shipments must be inspected by customer prior to signing delivery receipt.
  • Orders containing small and light-weight items may ship via FedEx SmartPost or USPS.

Order Returns

You may return an item sold to you by Hydropool.com up to 30 days after purchase. The product must be in good condition, unused, in original packaging, and must have all parts, accessories and paperwork; returns without these requirements and/or guidelines will not be accepted.

If a delivery attempt is unsuccessful on order requiring a direct signature, a 15% - 25% re-stock fee may be applied should the order be returned to Hydropool.com by the carrier.

Any claims to missing parts, items or damaged goods for any orders must be made within 15 days of delivery date. We are not able to credit your shipping and handling fees if the wrong product was ordered due to customer error. However, if you received the wrong products due to an error on our behalf, we will pay for the return services fees and you will receive a full refund or exchange.

To return an item to Hydropool.com, please call 800-4MY-POOL to get a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA) and return instructions. Any items returned without an RMA number will be refused. We will process your refund upon receipt of the returned product.

Concealed damage on any ground shipment must be reported within 3 business days. Freight shipments must be inspected for damages prior to customer signing delivery receipt. Customer is responsible for any/all return shipping charges. Some returns may be subject to a 15% - 25% restock fee that will be deducted from your refund.
